Councilman Ernie's NEW Feedback Blog

I will be introducing some subjects on this blog that I invite viewers to comment on. There is nothing "official" about this Blog. It reflects my own views and may also reflect the views of those who add comments which are very welcomed. It has been set up to give me some feedback on Town Topics and to provide an easy way for friends and constituents to let me know what's on their minds. Ernie Odierna, Councilman, Town of Mamaroneck

Don't give me credit, but a meeting, at least, has just been set up by Congresswomen Nita Lowey to be joined by The two Mayors, The Town Supervisor, the Village Trustees and The Town Council to discuss, among other things, The Metro North problems. We will also get into how the severe weather has impacted the Town and Villages.

This is not intended to be a public meeting but rather a briefing for elected officials. It will take place on Friday, March 4th. at the Town Center.

I also intend to discuss the issue with Assemblyman George Latimer and County Legislator Judy Myers at their Nautilus Diner "get together" this, Feb. 12th, Sat. afternoon, 2:00-3:30pm.

don't worry no on is giving you credit.
we all wish you would just retire already. 75% of this town is working families raising kids, commuting to NYC. You do not represent he interests of the residents of this town. Get some folks on the board who actually work for a living.

We have elections for Town Council every two years. If interested in running, come forward and let's hear what you've got to contribute.

I, by the way, run a company which happens to be located in Great Neck, LI. so a daily Metro-North commute does not happen to be a necessity but, I do use the Rail Road frequently. I also have a son, with 3 kids, living in Mamaroneck Village, who commutes to Manhattan every day.

I wish more of the "silent majority" commuters who complain bitterly about everything that is going on would "open up" and let those of us that are trying to do something about it benefit from their views, insight and suggestions.

I personally don't believe we should try to solve the problem by asking the Federal Govt. to throw more money at the situation. While the Rail Road has had lots of recent car outage problems due to the weather, as conditions improve, so should the service. It is still a lot better than driving and parking in the city, especially under winter weather conditions.

Taking advantage of todays technology, I have worked out ways that I can work remotely and get most of what I need to do done from home. I realize that not everyone's job lends itself to do this but many do and the easier we can make it happen, we should.

It's preferable that people comment rather than remain silent. But the commenter at 11:07 AM might heed the thought that while they are entitled to their own opinion they are not entitled to their own facts.

Who are their "all"? Many disagree, based on conversations, and the last election did not show any votes against the Councilman.

"75%", a nice round number, but how did the commenter determine it? Possibly upset about the New Haven Line? Did the commenter come to the meeting with Assemblyman Latimer and County Legislator Myers yesterday? Councilman Odierna did and spoke and listened, along with many others in our community, about it. BTW, he was the only member of the Town Council who was there.

Have you thoughts about how the Town might change as NYC changes and as technology changes? How must it and we change?

So "commenter" who does "represent" you and what do you want "represented"? Telling "government" to get people to replace them has never been a good answer. Perhaps you can identify specific issues, possibly suggest solutions. or maybe "represent" yourself and others.

"Tell Ernie" or wait till the end of the Council meeting and tell the others on it, 'cause they want to hear the people's business too ... but when the government's business is done :-)
